KVK, Ri-Bhoi ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam organized a Field Day on HYV of Protein rich biofortified variety of Paddy on 10th Nov,2025 in collaboration with MSRLS under NRLM, Govt.of India in the field of Mr. Khlainbor Jalong of Mawbri Village.The programme was attended by 30 farmers with officials from KVK, ICAR,CPRS,ATMA alongwith village headman The chief guest of the programme was Mr. Isynei Hinge, MDC, VPP, Umroi constituency, Umroi Constituency who greeted the farmers and urged the farmers to cultivate such varieties to reap the benefits.The objectives of the Field day was to show the performance of Protein rich biofortified variety which is found to be suitable for cultivation under lower hills and ensure better health.At the very outset Dr. Meghna Sarma, SMS, Agronomy, ICAR-KVK, Ri-Bhoi highlighted the farmers about the role of protein rich bio fortified paddy varieties in eradicating malnutrition for hunger free society and encouraged them to adopt such variety for the next coming season for improvement of livelihood of farming community.The yield potential indicates a future possibility of area expansion and adoption of such promising varieties under Ri-Bhoi district.
